CNC Routers & 3D Printers
Cerambot - Clay FDM printer (build currently in progress)
I’m building this printer to be able to make clay parts, mostly to then use them as components in larger blown glass pieces. The original printer is a Flashforge Creator Pro, modified to use a Cerambot pro extruder head, with both of them controlled by a Duet 2 Wifi board. I took the Flashforge and stripped out its extruder head & original motherboard, installed the Duet 2 and wired up all the movement motors to it, and am currently in the process of getting the clay pump extruder motor running correctly (having issues getting things to pass signals correctly through the external stepper driver I’m using, since the pump motor needs 2A and can’t be run directly from the Duet).
Shapeoko 2 - Desktop CNC Router
This was my first CNC-controlled piece of machinery, a slightly modified Shapeoko 2 that I built a few years ago down in NC. To be honest, I think I spent more time building and tinkering with this machine than I did actually cutting material and making parts on it. Still, it was a great little beastie to mess around with and learn on, and it got me started with CNC work and robotics/machine control in general.
